One-third of this year is gone and it's now time for your resolution review. Whatever goals that you set for yourself, whether or not they are fitness related should now be reviewed and reset if needed. There are plenty of times when matters concerning finances, personal life, weight or health "sneak up" on you. Every three months is a good time to see how things are going and try to make changes or even give yourself a pat on the back for the positive changes that you have made. Let's review...
What did you eat today? Let's take the remaining month of April and clean up our diets. Plan the night before, what you will eat for lunch. Grocery shop for breakfast and make a commitment to eat more fruit and vegetables. I like to recommend three per meal. Not only will you lose weight but the consumption of fruit and vegetables is a number one way to reduce your risk factor for cancer and chronic diseases. With this being Back to Basics week, we will focus more on how to most compliment our workout with our diet.

As we move into warmer weather, intense circuit training will begin for Love You Healthy, as the bikes move to the pool in summer. For this reason, it's time to get back to basics making sure our form looks phenomenal and that we achieve the desired results. Join us as we go back to basics with simple squats, push-ups, wall sits, upper body rows and good ole fashion sit-ups.
Has it been a while since you attended Spinergy? This is the perfect time to regain that lost momentum focusing on doing things right. I'm looking forward to beginning the basics with you!
This week marks Atlanta's Dogwood Arts Festival. It is a lovely weekend to get out and walk miles and miles (overlook the food).

Dr. Kim Wise (my fabulous pediatrician @Sandy Springs Pediatrics) and baby Camden stopped by Wednesday after class. As you can see he is so adorable. Thank you Dr. Wise for stopping by and introducing little Camden. He is such a bundle of joy and so cute!
1 ½ cups cooked or 1 can garbanzo beans (rinsed & drained)
1 ½ cups cooked or 1 can white beans (rinsed & drained)
¾ cup uncooked green lentils (rinsed & drained)
1 cup cooked brown or black rice,
2 cups diced onion (approximately 1 medium onion)
¾ cup celery (including leaves) diced (approximately2 long stalks)
4 cups fresh or 1 can diced tomatoes
4 - 8 Tbsp chopped cilantro
½ - 1 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
2 ½ quarts vegetable stock
2 Tbsp olive oil
*1 tsp tumeric
*¼ tsp (2 packets) saffron
*1 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
*1 tsp cinnamon (one one chopped cinnamon stick)
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp sea salt (or to taste)
Heat the oil in a soup pot over low heat. Add diced onions and sauté 5 – 10 minutes, stirring until tender and starting to brown. Add the *spices and celery and sauté for an additional 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes and continue to cook for 5 minutes. Add the vegetable stock, lentils and cooked beans. Bring to a simmer and add sea salt and ground pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes and check the lentils for doneness. They should be tender when pressed gently. When the lentils are cooked, add the cooked rice, cilantro and parsley. Taste and adjust the seasoning with sea salt & pepper to your liking.
