Amazing smoothie recipe. In the winter I have absolutely no problem getting nutrients from the weekly soups, stews and chili that I prepare. Recently, I have been on a quest to put together a smoothie that has EVERYTHING. As a health coach, I am always looking for a real-food approach to a quick meal and smoothie without a protein powder loaded with a bunch of stuff that I can't pronouce. This recipe is a quick and easy recipe that I am in love with and a great way to incorporate in-season strawberries. Get it here: Strawberry Muesli Chia Smoothie

I have a client who offered to let me keep the water bottle that she greets me with during our morning session. It wasn't until I finished 3 bottles in one day that I realized how much I was actually depleted. Grab your water bottle today and drink away! You will feel physically feel so much better wh

This week marked the third time that I have ran into an old college buddy and former college athlete. We both recognized each other because we looked the same! Now, I have ran into some of my old high school buddies and this isn't necessarily the case. What happened to my high school buddies and why are they not in decent shape? Now granted, my college buddies were mostly athletes but I have clients who were not athletes and managed to maintain a running program or aerobic regiment while practicing as an attorney, starting their own company or working in corporate American and how they took care of their bodies in their 20's seems to make a big difference in their 40's, 50's and even 60's.
How you treat your body in your 20's seems to have the biggest impact on your lifelong health. These are the years that your are building the true foundation for your adult body and what you eat, drink and how you move will ultimately prepare you for years to come. When I train an overweight client at 50, if they have engaged in physical activity as a young adult, the weight falls off. Muscle memory kicks in and the body remembers how it should function. Inversely, the damage that we do in terms of eating, drinking and lack of physical activity in our 20's can manifest itself in the form of diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure.
Also, it's no coincidence that I ran into both of my collegiate-athlete buddies at Whole Foods. Your 20's is when you learn to value your health and yourself. There was no Whole Foods in Knoxville however, I did learn how to eat a balanced and proper diet in college. Gaining consciousness around your health in your 20's and 30's before life gets in the way really does set the precedent of how you and your family will live well into your, 30's, 40's and 50's, 60's...

I absolutely bruchetta of all kinds. Then again what's there not to love regarding olive oil, bagette and fresh fruit? This is a recipe that even the kids will enjoy and what I love about it even more is that it provides you with real food in balance that your body will absolutely thank you for. Please, please, please make this quick...while strawberries are still in season. Pick up fresh goat cheese from your local market and splurge on a good balsalmic vinegar as well as EVOO. Enjoy!
