Love you healthy blog by; saidah jones
In Whole Foods on a routine Saturday with the kids to get their kids cod liver oil and gummy vitamins. We encountered a lady offering 'smoothies' to taste. My daughter doesn't typically eat breakfast, so I jump on anything that we could do to help reverse that trend. The kids like the smoothie so I decided to buy a couple of packets. I leave satisfied to have made progress in our breakfast menu. Monday morning comes and we are excited about breakfast. The kids decide against the vanilla, chocolate AND berry. For some reason, they just didn't taste as good at home. I even have to force down the chalky, green, berry-flavored, stevia sweetend liquid. Then I begin to ask myself, "Why am I drinking chalky green, berry-flavored, stevia sweetend liquid?" Then I remember the sample expert saying how each drink has two servings of green vegetables, two servings of vegetables and protein. Then my health coach voice kicked in...why not eat two servings of green vegetables, two servings of fruit and an egg? Real whole food is key to a healthy lifestyle. When you eat real food, you eat less calories and have a balanced diet. Meal replacement drinks and smoothies tend to have more than what you would typically eat in a setting. In addition, your stomach has no real concept of digestion because you drink your calories. My lesson and my lesson to you, eat real food and only go to the food bars, smoothies and drinks when in desparate need for food you can't otherwise eat.
I have to congratulate you on all of your hard work in Spinergy. You rock and have made it through the first full week of LYH Spinergy. If you have attended class recently then you know that I get all crazy this time of year. Realistically speaking we only have around five weeks to beat the holiday buldge before it gets here. Before you know it little red, green and silver Hershey kisses will adorn your co-workers desk. Let's look great for those Holiday parties. Come to class and work hard beat the buldge before it beats you. Keep coming to class, drinking water, eating your balanced diet and you will be well prepared for the parties to come.
BRING A FRIEND TO FITNESS! On the last Wednesday of each month your friend can get fit for free by working out with you at Spinergy. You have brought your significant others, family and friends to class just for them not to be able to move the next day. Talk about unconditional love. Coming to a Love You Healthy class is the real test. I want to extend my thanks for thinking so much about the class to bring your folks. Now every last Wednesday for your friends is on me!
Ok, so I thought I was coming down with something. Instead of the normal clove of garlic that I just swallow. I decided to head down to WF for their internal flame shot. This shot will kill anything with its garlic cloves, ginger and lemons all juiced together, with a little sprinkle of cayenne pepper on top. This shot is a great immune booster and a great way to combat any cold, flu or virus that you feel is coming on. BTW: I only had allergies
Kudos to all of you who came to the first day of Spinergy. I saw faces that I hadn't seen in quite some time. We had an amazing workout...even Ms.Sam deCamp left happy! Today our workout consisted of 10 minutes bike sprints followed by pushups, single arm rows and tricep extensions. Set 2 incorporated bike intervals with stationary squats and Set 3 was a nice uphill ride coupled with ABS galore. Great workout from everyone! Hope to see you Wednesday.
Many of us exercise to look good and feel better. However, this recent article in the New York Times suggest that being physically active at any point in your life can have positive effects on your health. The life expectancy rate is ever increasing but instead of being concerned with how long we are living we should be concerned of the quality of life that we will have while into our senior years. This article put great perspective on how doing little things at any age of your life can make a huge difference in your overall health...for life. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/05/the-benefits-of-middle-age-fitness/

Throughout the week, I talk to clients briefly about their diet. The three main things that I look for in a balanced diet is: a variety of foods, nurtrient dense foods and the consumption of process foods versus real, whole foods. Even though many of us understand that junk food and fast food are bad for us, we are challenged with ways to put together a balanced, diet daily. For this reason, I have began...My Daily Bread. Starting today, I will list what I have eaten for the day. It will not all be healthy, I might slip in cobbler once in a while, but look for the things that I mentioned above and feel free to ask questions. You might even notice patterns or things in my diet that you may be able to incorporate in yours.
